I starting playing guitar on my 15th birthday. I began studying with local instructors in Daytona Beach Florida. I started off just learning cover tunes and then it progressed into wanting to learn about music theory. I was first inspired by Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Kiss, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Ratt, Loudness, Judas Priest, King Diamond, Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, Racer X and the whole Shrapnel scene. By the time I graduated high school, I had been just jamming with friends, playing parties with garage bands and countless hours practicing in my bedroom.
During my college years, I started getting into different types of music like: Fates Warning, Chris Poland, Watchtower , STP, King's X, Alice in Chains, Slayer, Carcass and Cynic. I started a couple of original bands during my college days, but unfortunately very little came out of those projects. Between people constantly coming in and out of the band(s) and the lack of available musicians in central Florida scene, I got extremely frustrated.
In 1994, after I graduated from University of Central Florida with a BSEET , I decided to move to NYC area for better opportunities in music. At that time in my life, I was into progressive bands like Genesis, Rush, YES, Lemur Voice, UK, Dream Theater and into more fusion oriented type guitar playing like: Scott Henderson, Greg Howe, Tribal Tech, Aquarium Rescue Unit, and Allan Holdsworth. After 6 months of being in NY, I hooked up with a great progressive band called Strange Embrace. The next four years with Strange Embrace was spent recording a full length CD; gigging an average of 4 times a month; sending out demo/promotional packages to indie and major record labels, management companies, and producers; rehearsing 3 times a week and all of the band members holding down full time jobs.
After the Strange Embrace project, I took a short hiatus to record some instrumental tunes under the name of Sonic Texture, which is what I've wanted to do for a long time. Also during my hiatus, I was able to take a few lessons with Greg Howe . I teamed up with Dave Penna (Spastic Ink, Planet Hate, Kronin), on drums, to record a full length instrumental CD called Static "patterns". We finally finished it in the beginning of 2001. At this point in time, I started getting into stuff like Meshuggah, Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects, Korn, Fear Factory, and heavier type of music. After the CD release, started working with Dave Penna (Spastic Ink, Planet Hate, Kronin), and Jon Modell (Spooge) in a heavy type of project. We wrote some cool stuff. At the end of 2001, I moved to Canada and Jon went on to form Car Bomb. I have since started a few other projects will be shortly revealed in 2008. Cheers!!
